Riding The Wind: Best Places To Go Hang Gliding In America

Hang gliding is one of the most exciting outdoor activities, more so for those who enjoy heights and viewing the stunning horizons while up in the air. While riding the wind is best done in the Golden State, there are also plenty other places perfect for hang gliding. A few of the best ones in US are the following:

La Jolla, California

Those who prefer coastal soaring can go to the hilly seaside community of La Jolla in San Diego, home of various outdoor recreations. The cliffs of Black’s Beach beneath the bluffs of Torrey Pines are perfect spots for hang gliding.

Kitty Hawk, North Carolina

This part of North Carolina’s Outer Banks is the site of the Wright’s brothers flight experiment. To emulate what the brothers did in walking up the dunes and leaping off can be quite fulfilling.

Pacific City, Oregon

Adventurers seeking an alternative to the crowded Californian hang gliding spots go to Pacific City. The amazing winds off of Cape Kiwanda have made the place a haven for hang gliders since 1970s.

McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is probably the best state that offers riding over scenic greeneries. Hang gliders from Maryland and the District of Columbia even flock to McConnellsburg to ride the wind. The Pulpit is one of the most popular hang gliding spots.
